Top 12 Favourite Movies

The best way to watch a movie is when your sat wrapped in a duvet, after having taken a bath with a face mask on your face, some candles lit, a bowl of popcorn in your hands and joined by the company of friends. As a Media student a lot of people are surprised when I turn around and say that I haven't watched Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and most other major films that everyone expects me to have seen! Truth be told I'm not the biggest movie lover, I watch a lot of them but there aren't many that I can watch more than once and I would much rather indulge myself in a TV series, on that note here is a list of my movie recommendations in no particular order...

1- Inside Out
Ok so this one is potentially a bit of a cheat because I only finally got round to watching it very recently but when I did it gave me a warm bubbly feeling inside that took me back to when I was a child. Imagination land and the character Bing Bong is just the best thing ever, I found myself sat there with a huge grin on my face. I however love this movie because it is one of the first movies in a longtime that has been made without some form of romance in it and it is just a nice happy story...yes it is a kids movie but for anyone over the age of 16 with a heart I advise you give it a go.

2- Twilight
People can say what they want but even though I haven't watched them in a while, since the Twilight Saga movies came out I have had a number of movie marathons with them because I just love the story and the romance to a point where I became overly emotional and attached to some of the characters.

3- That Awkward Moment
New to me again with this movie but I love that its a rom-com from a man's perspective and rather than a romance that 'every girl dreams about' type movie that we are all use to we see it from three lads perspectives. When Jason (Zac Efron) convinces Ellie, a girl with an alternative style to hook up with him he only had intentions to sleep with her one night and then not hear from her again after making an agreement with his mates that they were all going to stay single after one of them goes through a divorce.

4- Mary Poppins / Saving Mr Banks
I put these two films together because if you have seen one then you have to watch the other! I'm sure most of us have because if you didn't know Saving Mr Banks is an endearing Disney movie about the author of Mary Poppins, P.L. Travers and how Mary Poppins was turned into a film much against her wishes. Both movies are two of my favourite movies that I would recommend to anyone, they give me that warm fuzzy feeling and many emotions, I also can't resist foot tapping along to the songs. My favourite scene is when Walt Disney walks into the room to find Dom playing Feed The Birds which is strange considering it is my least favourite tune from Mary Poppins.

5- Tangled
I watched Frozen before watching Tangled and thought it was alright but not brilliant then a housemate convinced me to watch Tangled which I did and I fell in love with it! A sucker for Disney movies already but I can't resist watching this movie as a result of the song and scene for 'I See The Light'. Once you watch it I am also sure that you will agree that even though he is an animated character, Flynn Ryder is gorgeous!

6- The Hunger Games
Another movie series that I am sure most of you will have seen but I really enjoy watching these films, not often but just every now and then because I love Jennifer Lawrence's character Katniss and I can't wait for Mockingjay P2 to come out on DVD.

7- Notting Hill
Sucker for a good romance! This is a slightly older movie in comparison to some of the rest I think it was made in 1999 when Hugh Grant had flawless skin and a floppy haircut to match. Theres not much more I can say about this because it is honestly your typical rom-com but its a really good one.

8- The Holiday
This is a really cute film about two women swapping lives when they both find themselves in a bad situation and needing a break, both in fact running away from love. Spoiler alert they both end up with someone! A great movie to watch at Christmas but saying that why can't we watch Christmas movies all year round?!

9- Love Actually
We've all seen it, we all love it, I watch it on repeat with a box of tissues (if you can't tell then I am a sucker for romance and an emotional person).

10- The First Time
Shoutout to Dylan O'Brien for this one! You may have heard of him, he's best known for his appearance in The Maze Runner series, I found him in Teen Wolf and fell in love with his character resulting with me spending a day watching everything he has ever been in which isn't much but now that he has been in The Maze Runner I hope that he gets noticed and given some big parts in some major movies! A Teen Rom-Com following two slightly frustrated teenagers who are curious about romance, love and sex, not on the same level as movies like Love Actually or just anything with Hugh Grant in but it is a really cute film.

11- Pitch Perfect
Love a musical movie, If I am honest I watch these movies purely for the music, the storyline is also good and very funny but who can resist joining in with their own bit of acapella whilst watching from home!

12- Footloose
Not the 1984 version with Kevin Bacon but the 2011 adaption with Kenny Wormald. Its a musical, its a romance and if you haven't already gathered after reading this post then this is my kind of thing all over.
